About the event
The goal of our groups is to provide open discussion regarding Black Men and their mental health. This is not an external look upon society and other black men, but rather a resource to assist Black Men in managing their own mental well-being. The group discussions will ask for participants to self-reflect and be introspective during our time together. THIS IS NOT THERAPY. The goal of our group discussions is to provide a safe space for Black Men to look at how they process and maintain their mental health, as well as the overall importance of self care. Various topics will be discussed each month. This is a micro level (focus on the individual) Black space and the takeaway is to provide awareness to one’s own mental health.
We will be welcoming other Black Men who are Black Mental Health Professionals to participate and assist with leading discussion.
When we meet this month, our discussion will begin with a review and look at Cognitive Distortions (Link-https://psychcentral.com/lib/15-common-cognitive-distortions/) and how we addressed the definition of "Ambivalence" when it comes to Black men. This month we will discuss "The bias of Black Men".
